Support Donna's Journey to Recovery
Donna Carriker dedicated most of her life to working hard and priding herself as an independent hard-working woman, to now being hospitalized after suffering a stroke. On the morning of April 4, 2024, Donna made it to work ready to begin her day when several co-workers noticed she was not her spunky go-getter self. Concerned, a coworker drove her to the hospital to have her evaluated and tested by medical professionals. They later determined she had suffered an Ischemic Stroke. The doctors were able to clear most of the blockages with a simple procedure but throughout the night, concerned doctors ordered more CT scans and another MRI when they noticed her condition start to worsen. She started to lose function of her right arm and leg. Tests discovered several arteries were thinning, causing further complications. By morning, she had lost her speech and all function to her right side completely.
Defying the Odds
Donna has spent some time working with physical, occupational, and speech therapists while consistently remaining headstrong that she is going to get better! Now her time at the rehabilitation center has come to an end. We are working endlessly to find a facility that will help continue her remarkable strides in her recovery process. Donna has remained positive and has continued to work hard to get back to being the independent woman she once was.
Any funds donated will be used to help secure an assisted living facility for a year term. She has medical insurance to help cover physical, occupational, and speech therapy but it will not cover any cost towards trained caregivers for around the clock care during her healing process. Any amount you’re willing to contribute will be so greatly appreciated, and if you aren’t able to contribute monetary donations at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us all.
