Support Justine's (Dory's) Journey to a Full Recovery
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is James (J, Jay). My sister Bonnie and I are starting this fund for our mother, Justine better known as Dory. On November 7, 2024, while Dory and I were on the phone, her words started to stammer and slur. Anyone that knows me knows I would make a sarcastic remark or tease her for her mistake, but this sounded serious. I immediately got in touch with Bonnie, who was in the house with her, and she said that our mother seemed fine. A few minutes later, Dory had a stroke. She lost her ability to speak and move her body entirely, becoming stiff as a board. When the ambulance arrived, they transported her to Paoli Hospital where numerous tests and procedures were performed. My mother is a diabetic, and we originally thought that might be the source of the issue, but after all the tests and scans, they were unable to determine the cause of the incident. There was a complete disconnect from her brain to her body. After a week at Paoli Hospital, Dory was transferred to a live-in rehabilitation center where she receives speech and physical therapy every day. She has regained the ability to speak, but it still comes and goes. She also has recently regained the use of her upper body and is making progress with her lower body. As of today, November 26, 2024, Dory still has little to no movement under her waist. If things keep progressing at this rate, we are hoping she makes a full recovery and will be able to come home by the end of January 2025.
We are hoping this fund can help offset some of her medical bills and make adjustments to her home so that it will be an easy transition from the rehab facility to home life. I know the holidays are upon us and that times are tough, but if you are willing and able to donate, any amount would be greatly appreciated. Please spread the word and share the information with friends, family, coworkers, strangers, etc.!
Thank you all for your time and good vibes/prayers are happily welcomed!
