Support Dougie's Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
Life can be unexpected and we can always expect that.
On Sunday I got a call that my nephew, Dougie was found unresponsive and had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance. After short evaluation, he was sent home to be monitored and encouraged to rest. By the grace of something greater, his parents, Tina and Doug got him up to go pick up his little sister and shortly after, he was once again found unresponsive and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance a second time in just a few short hours.
After CT scans and other tests, it was discovered that Dougie had a brain bleed called a subdural hematoma and he was taken into surgery immediately. They performed a craniotomy; thankfully surgery went well and they were able to relieve the pressure. We are thankful that he made it as doctors said he would've likely died in his sleep had he not been woken up.
In the last 2 days, Dougie seems to be healing well and anyone who knows him, can imagine how heartbreaking it is to see him still and quiet in a hospital bed, when we know that is the last place he would want to be.
Now, he and his family are looking at recovery that is tough to fathom and what that entails is both frightening and stressful. Dougie will require close monitoring and that likely means his mom won't be able to work while he is recovering. Tina and Doug are the first to help anyone and the last to ask for help, so I am starting this gofundme in the hopes that anyone who is able can help alleviate some of the financial burden that will come in the form of medical costs and inability to work.
Anything is appreciated, but not expected. The outpouring of love and support my sister and brother in law have received is inspiring; the village of people who care about our big boy is amazing. Please continue to send love and healing vibes and know that you all are appreciated more than words could ever express.
