My name is Dr Ammar.
I am Birmingham Edgbaston’s local, independent parliamentary candidate for peace, justice, and democracy.
I am a doctor who works at the local Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I went to school in Edgbaston, I have lived in Edgbaston, and I have taught at the University of Birmingham in Edgbaston.
Like many of us, I've been outraged at the indifference of the mainstream parties towards the genocide in Gaza, their failure to uphold our values and address the evergrowing inequalities between us.
This election is a vital opportunity for you to vote for the change you want. I hope you will trust me with your vote.
A vote for me is a vote for:
- Peace, dignity, and justice in Palestine.
- Democracy, and for the right to assemble, protest, and speak without fear.
- Greater investment in our NHS, in our education, and our local services - to meet the demands of staff for pay and working conditions.
- Fairness, for an end to austerity, for increased local government funding, and a real living wage.
- The elimination of student fees and the two-child benefits cap.
- Building more urgently needed social housing and for the protection of the vulnerable.
- Our planet, for net and absolute zero, for record investment in green technologies and sustainability, and clean neighbourhoods.
- Decency and dignity for all, including minorities, immigrants and refugees.
