Thank you for taking the time to visit my GoFundMe page. It is very ambitious to run as an Independent candidate for the EU Elections, not least because of the cost of it. I am reliably informed that a lean campaign is likely to cost in the region of €130k! This is a lot of money.
Unlike political parties who receive funding from the State and their membership, I receive no funding. For this reason I am reaching out to you for a donation. Every bit helps.
Know that I am very motivated to make a contribution to the wellbeing and future of our region. I am a former Senator and member of the EU Affairs committee and am convinced that my experience and qualifications will be an asset as an MEP.

MY PRIORITIES
To Secure Your Rural Future: Ireland is becoming a city state with most investment Dublin-centred. Rural Ireland has been left behind. I will fight for the upgrading of our region through ‘rural direct investment’ (RDI) in local job initiatives and ‘smart’ futures (eg., smart villages). Connectivity - digital & mobility - is vital, Broadband a priority. There are models and mechanisms available at EU level to help us achieve this.
To Secure Your Future post Brexit: As your new MEP, I will use the Brexit extension as an opportunity to build good relations with UK MEPS. This is a missing piece in current negotiations. We need to find common ground to safeguard viable trade for our farmers and export-reliant businesses into the future.
Our Farmers’ Futures: I will work to advance a fairer CAP system that rewards productive farmers who farm environmentally to produce good quality food.
Healthy Futures for our Children & Young People: Promoting families, the nucleus of society, and their futures through the provision of education, social, cultural and sporting programmes for learning and wellbeing. Aimed, in particular, at counteracting the increase in anxiety and mental health issues in our youth.
A Green Future: Support young people in their endeavours to change to greener futures. Promote the benefits of walkways/ cycle-ways within 500 meters of schools, encouraging active lifestyles and a reduced carbon footprint.
Access to European-wide Insurance: I will push for legislation for an EU-wide market for Insurance to make it more affordable for the viability of our businesses (eg., play centres, restaurants, livestock marts). As EU citizens we should be able to buy insurance from any European company if it’s cheaper. It’s time for competition.
Local Banking Model: Explore the potential for a local banking system, based on the German Sparkassen model, where each savings bank is locally managed and serving its local region. This model has been successfully serving local German communities for 200 years, providing for cheaper business and home loans than Irish banks.
Your Cultural Identity & Security: I will work to preserve our unique cultural identity as Irish citizens and guard our neutrality.
