Support Dr. Jimmy Kim (UWO DDS Class of 2002)

On Monday October 4, Dr. Jimmy Kim was admitted to the ICU at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, due to acute respiratory distress from COVID. Jimmy needed to be deeply sedated, intubated, and placed on a ventilator, not knowing when he would wake up again.

Prior to becoming ill, Jimmy was seeing patients at his clinic, where his patients truly value the care he has been providing over the past 13 years.

Not only is Jimmy dedicated to his patients and staff well-being, but he prioritized spending time with his loving and steadfast wife, Yoomi, and their 4 sons, Luke (16), Elijah (15), Evan (12), and Theo (10). He is a proud hockey dad who is often seen standing by the cold ice rinks, happily watching and recording his sons in action. Outside of the arena, Jimmy could be found playing beautiful classical music with his family ensemble.

Jimmy has a younger brother, John, and a mother and father who immigrated to Canada for Jimmy and dedicated their lives to their two children.

Fundraising efforts at this time will be focused on easing the financial burden that results from Jimmy being absent from his dental practice. The dental practice is being managed by his dedicated staff, who are striving to ensure Jimmy’s patients are well cared for in his absence. However, his staff experience challenges as they try to navigate through this difficult time.

Jimmy’s recovery is ultimately in the hands of God. He is in critical condition and it is unknown how long he may be in this critical state. We thank you for keeping Jimmy and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers and for any support you may provide.
