Support Dreaa in Healing After Jake's Loss

My name is Dreaa, and that handsome boy in the photo is Jake. Unfortunately, Jake developed cancer (hemangiosarcoma), and it progressed really fast until, sadly, I made the decision to let him go April 27th.

He and I found each other when I graduated high school in 2013, and he was only about 4-5 weeks old. We grew together and he showed me what unconditional love felt like. Jake loved me just the same through every one of my phases... he was that constant for me in my life. While to some people he may just be a dog, to me... he was my son.

In the end, we both fought so hard to make him better. He went through a full week of hospitalization, 4 blood transfusions, and a splenectomy (major surgery) that his chances were low of surviving to begin with... but he made through it all. Unfortunately, his body lost the fight... he made it home to say his final goodbye to his feline siblings and the house he and grew up in. He began bleeding into his lungs, causing him exhaust more energy to breathe. I promised him a long time ago that I would listen when he told me (in his own ways) he was tired and he did just that... with that being said I kept my promise.

It's been about 2 months now without him, and life is very different. I'm slowly learning to fill the gaping hole left in my heart. Jake took a piece of my heart April 27th, but that's okay because that piece was his to begin with...

I'm living each day learning to love myself the way he loved me... and I have gained acceptance I will miss him for the rest of my life... I would like to remember Jake for the memories and experiences we shared together... not how he left. With that being said, I do need some assistance with his final medical bill... my mentality is ready to let go of that memory and continue to heal. While his final bill came out to $6500, I'm asking for $4000, but any little bit helps. Thank you so much for reading.
