Support Driver's Family in Honor of Dan and Elise Caffee

On Thursday, March 6th, Elise Caffee and Dan Caffee traveled to Cancun, Mexico to attend the wedding of a dear friend. While driving on the highway from the airport to their hotel, their car was struck by a truck filled with asphalt that fell on top of them, trapping Elise and their driver Luis inside the vehicle as the boiling hot contents of the truck poured in. Elise was able to be removed from the van after a great deal of effort by Dan and first responders that rushed to help, however, Luis was not able to get out in time and unfortunately passed away at the scene.

As many of you know, Elise continues to be in critical condition as she is treated at a burn unit in Utah, we continue to hope and pray for her recovery. Many of you have expressed interest in helping our family during this difficult time and we feel so blessed by your love and generosity. While we’ve gladly accepted prayers and fasting on Elise’s behalf and are glad to fill our bellies with your delicious meals, we feel blessed that Elise’s family has sufficient insurance coverage and funds to cover their expenses.

Unfortunately, Luis, leaves behind his wife, Alejandra as well as his twin daughters (15), and son (12), without their family’s main provider. We are asking you to take the love and generosity that you feel towards our family during this time of crisis, and direct it to helping our friends in Mexico who have also been impacted by this horrible accident. We hope to help them cover Luis’ funeral costs, potential legal fees, and provide for other needs their family will have during this difficult time and in the days ahead.

For now, we will not be releasing any photos or further information about Luis’ family in order to protect their privacy during this sensitive time for them. Thank you for understanding
