Freddie "Dude" Teate
Dude has been the proud owner George's Mower & Saw in Leesburg for 28 years. The small machine repair shop is located on 2nd Street in downtown Leesburg. Dude is a Leesburg native who has always helped those in need.
As many of y'all know, Leesburg has a big homeless population in downtown. Dude's strong compassion for the homeless led him to regularly assist many fellas by allowing them do small jobs for him or answer phones. You usually could always find a couple gentleman seeking refuge from the sun, heat, rain or cold inside George's Mower. If you ever spotted one of these gentlemen on a golf cart then it was always because Dude lent him his personal golf cart to take care of something.
On the morning of Friday, June 7th at 3am, Dude received a call from the Leesburg Police Department that brought horrific news. George's Mower and Saw was ablaze. Dude went downtown to find his entire business and livelihood up in flames. His tools of the trade and source of income are gone. The fire caused complete devastation. The fire consumed the building, all his tools, equipment, customers property, personal property and many sentimental irreplaceable items.
The Fire Marshall suspects it could possibly be caused from a smoldering lightning strike or some sort electrical malfunction. No foul play is suspected.
Dude's goal is to rebuild and continue operating George's Mower & Saw from 2nd Street. I am asking for our community to come together and show their compassion for Dude just as he does for everyone in our community. Please consider contributing anything possible to help him survive this financial loss to his livelihood and rebuild George's Mower & Saw.
With Love,
