Support Dwayne's Battle with Lymphoma

Donation protected
As a friend and neighbor of Dwayne and Debbie Dechant I would like to ask for donations to help with the many expenses incurred with a cancer diagnosis. Any donation helps! Dwayne farms in the May Valley area, as well as other locations, and Debbie works at USDA/Farm Service Agency in Lamar. The following is the story in real time of Dwayne and Debbie's cancer journey.

Dwayne was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma in October 2024. His care team devised a very aggressive treatment plan due to the aggressiveness of his cancer. Over the next few months, he received chemo every 21 days along with an additional preventative chemo every 6 weeks which required him to be hospitalized in Colorado Springs for 5 days each treatment. Unfortunately, in February it was determined he had Refractory Lymphoma which meant the cancer was growing and not responding to the treatments. His care was transferred to UC Health Anschutz Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. A new plan was put into place to start the process for him to receive Car T-Cell Therapy. The next week, Dwayne and Debbie relocated to Denver to begin his daily radiation treatments. Dwayne continued to not feel well and was admitted to the hospital with an adrenal crisis within the first week in Denver. During some additional testing it was discovered his cancer had spread again, this time into his spinal cord fluid and the fluid around his brain. His team once again devised a new plan to try to bridge the time needed for them to collect his cells for his upcoming Car T-Cell Therapy and attack the new cancer. The doctors began a new chemo regiment that will be administered every 21 days. Twice a week lumbar punctures with chemo are given into his spinal fluid as well as continuing the daily radiation treatments. Once the cells are collected it takes approximately 3 1/2 weeks for them to be enhanced at the lab and ready to be transplanted back to Dwayne. Once the cells are returned, he will be admitted to the hospital for about 2 weeks for the procedure to be completed and to be monitored closely for any complications. Once he is discharged after these procedures, he will need to always be within 15 miles of UC Health Anschutz Medical Center and will continue to be monitored by his doctors with daily appointments and labs for the first 30 days. During Dwayne's treatments his doctors require him to have a 24/7 caregiver. Dwayne cannot drive nor be left alone due to the side effects of the treatments. Debbie has taken unpaid FMLA leave from work to be with him. Any donation will help Dwayne and Debbie during this health crisis and with their day to day living expenses while receiving treatments. Please help our friends and neighbors!
