Support Ed Stork's Final Journey
Donation protected
Our family has held off on writing this GoFundMe for 6 years, but with life literally now at stake, it is a necessity, and we are humbly asking for your help. My name is Kristin, and I am writing this on behalf of my sister and brother-in-law, Jenn and Ed Stork. Jenn and Ed just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on May 4th.
Six years ago, Ed was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Over the years it has metastasized to his liver, lungs, spine and hip bones. Over the last 6 years, he went through 30+ intense rounds of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries and ablations, numerous rounds of radiation and immunotherapy infusions. As a last-ditch effort this past year, he had qualified for and participated in several clinical trials. Ed has had countless scans and tests, seen nearly 6 doctors between Austin and Houston. He has spent 15+ days in the hospital fighting for his life.
Ed is a fighter and has done all of this while continuing to work full time as the primary breadwinner for his family. My sister Jenn has worked relentlessly managing and coordinating his care, spending countless hours at MD Anderson in Houston as Ed received care from the best doctors. She did this all while teaching full-time.
Our family just received devastating news that there is nothing more the doctors can do for him, the cancer is progressing, and the cancer has stopped responding to treatment. The cancer continues to spread. The doctors have told us that he only has 1-3 months to live. Ed is now receiving Hospice Care in their home to make him as comfortable as he can be during his final weeks.
Ed has privately fought his cancer battle over the years. He has been very humble in this journey and hasn’t wanted to ask for help. His determination to combat this disease for his wife and two son’s is both heart-warming and inspiring.
It is now time for all of us to help by donating to this fund. The emotional and financial toll of this journey is immense. Your donation will go directly towards supporting Ed, Jenn and their family. Jenn has now gone from a working partner and co-parent to his primary caregiver and must cope with a significantly diminished household income once he is gone.
She most likely won’t start the school year since she plans to take FMLA in order to stay home and continue to care for Ed. While on FMLA, she won’t receive a paycheck. With our help, Jenn will avoid the additional debilitating stress of financial uncertainty. Every donation, prayer, and words of encouragement will bring us one step closer to easing Ed’s burden and giving him the strength and peace to go knowing his family will be taken care of. No contribution is too small, and every gesture is deeply appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a profound difference in Ed’s journey and offer hope to this beautiful family in this darkest of times.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kristin Belmonte – Jenn’s sister
