In early 2020, my father Eddie was diagnosed with both stage four liver disease and kidney disease, requiring a double transplant. Due to his failing health, Eddie was forced to close down his beloved food truck, Eddie’s Fresh Grill in London, Ontario, after over 12 years of daily operation with his loving wife, Maha.
Since Eddie is such a high-risk patient, our family decided it was most safe for him to stop working altogether and put the food truck up for sale in an attempt to help pay for his medical bills and living situation as Eddie waits for his surgeries. Both Eddie and his wife also tried to apply for government assistance, but neither of them qualified.
In early December, a buyer had expressed interest in purchasing the food truck only to back out weeks later after finding out that the rent on the parking lot where the truck is located dramatically increased.
The landlord in question, Precise Parklink (a Toronto-based company), increased the rent by a staggering 344%, moving the current rent price from $450/month to $2,000/month. Because of this, the deal fell through and Eddie now faces a scary medical journey, an uncertain prognosis and a lack of financial support due to the loss of his business sale.
Currently too sick to work and still having to pay rent on his truck while trying to support his family, any donations and post shares are greatly appreciated during this tough time. Thank you so much!!
