In the fall of 2021, Anna Gaberscik, Stella Radovan, Reza Majdodin, decided to work together on a project. It didn't have a name or a concrete plan, but the goal was to make a short film about PoC based on the Through Our Eyes Project.

In the summer of 2022, Anna Gaberscik received a scholarship for 7,800 for six months from kültüř gemma! for the realization of an art project. EDELWEISS. was born

That money was split up between the members of the team, interviewees of the movie, many cast members and filming permits. However, a movie costs a lot of money and energy and time and the EDELWEISS. film team members were not fully compensated for their work.

And despite that, the work continues! We need help funding future screenings, costs for festival submissions, institutionalizing Through Our Eyes as a Verein, and last but not least, payment of the team members for their work.

The film EDELWEISS. is a product of the Through Our Eyes project in collaboration with the Triangle Studio. The 'Through Our Eyes' project, founded by Anna Gaberscik, is an interdisciplinary project that explores anti-racism, intersectionality and empowerment in various creative forms.

EDELWEISS. is a performative documentary about the often harrowing realities of People of Color living in Austria. The movie is a frank depiction of the perspectives of many People of Color who have varying connections to Austria; some who call it home, some who have made it their home, and others who would never call it home. Edelweiss is a critical love letter to a country that needs to become a better place for those who have been making it a better place for years.

Im Herbst 2021 beschlossen Anna Gaberscik, Stella Radovan und Reza Majdodin, gemeinsam an einem Projekt zu arbeiten. Es hatte weder einen Namen noch einen konkreten Plan, aber das Ziel war es, einen Kurzfilm über PoC zu drehen, der auf dem Through Our Eyes Project basiert.

Im Sommer 2022 erhielt Anna Gaberscik ein Stipendium in Höhe von 7.800 für sechs Monate von kültüř gemma! für die Realisierung eines Kunstprojekts. EDELWEISS. wurde geboren.

Dieses Geld wurde auf die Mitglieder des Teams, die Interviewpartner des Films, viele Darsteller und die Drehgenehmigungen aufgeteilt. Ein Film kostet jedoch viel Geld, Energie und Zeit, und die Mitglieder des EDELWEISS.-Filmteams wurden nicht vollständig für ihre Arbeit entschädigt.

Und trotzdem geht die Arbeit weiter! Wir brauchen Hilfe bei der Finanzierung zukünftiger Filmvorführungen, bei den Kosten für Festivaleinreichungen, bei der Institutionalisierung von Through Our Eyes als Verein und nicht zuletzt bei der Bezahlung der Teammitglieder für ihre Arbeit.

Edelweiss ist ein kritischer Liebesbrief an ein Land, das ein besserer Ort für jene werden muss, die es seit Jahren zu einem besseren Ort gemacht haben.
