Support Eden's Healing Journey

Hello friends, family, and prayer warriors!

 

Thank you so much for the tremendous outpouring of love and support for Eden and the Blount family over the last five weeks through prayers, meals, and gifts. Stephanie, Gary, and the entire family feel your prayers and love creating a consistent stream of hope and encouragement by your faith as they believe for complete and total healing in little Eden's body.

 

 

 

 

For those of you who are just joining this journey, a tumor was found in the right side of Eden's face in late October/early November and she was diagnosed with cancer (MRT - Malignant extra-renal rhabdoid tumor). She has completed her first round of chemotherapy, but her treatment plan will include a potential combination of chemo, surgery, stem cell rescue, and proton radiation therapy.

 

 

 

 

Her doctors and treatment team at Levine Children's Hospital are in constant communication with the team at Boston's Children's Hospital about Eden's treatment and journey because once Eden is well enough to travel, Stephanie and Gary will travel up to Boston to meet the doctors there for a second opinion. Their input, along with Eden's team here in Charlotte will guide the path of her treatment after she completes her third round of chemotherapy. One of her likely treatment paths will include a six week stay in Boston while Eden receives proton radiation therapy.

 

 

 

 

Life as the Blount family knew it has changed with Eden's recent diagnosis. She hasn't been able to come home from the hospital as much as the family was hoping, so Stephanie and Gary spend a lot of time trading places between home and the hospital as they try to balance providing the best care for Eden while still raising their four boys with a sense of normalcy. With Stephanie spending so much time away at the hospital, Gary has had to take a step back from work to spend more time at home with the boys. These are waters the family has never had to navigate before.

 

 

 

 

As Eden's medical bills began to arrive and the family submitted them for reimbursement with Samaritan's Ministry (the Christian health share ministry the family participates in as an alternative to traditional insurance), they have been notified that the cost of some of Eden's required treatment regimen will not be covered.

 

In the beginning, we did not launch a GoFundMe campaign because Stephanie and Gary did not want to ask for assistance they did not need. However, as things have progressed with Eden's care, a need has arisen and I am creating this page to help shoulder some of the financial burden the family will face moving forward.
