Support Edith Piaf's Urgent Medical Needs

I came home from work around midnight and found my cat breathing heavily, self isolating, and disinterested in eating or drinking. I rushed her to the ER vet.

They wouldn't work with me financially on checking her vitals, x-rays, giving her an IV, or doing any blood work or urinalysis. They charged me $180 just to show up, and told me to find somewhere else to go. I asked them, where was open, and they said no one.

So, I then drove to the Amanda Foundation and waited for them to open.

We were the first patients there, and the last to leave.

Edith Piaf was diagnosed with a partially collapsed lung with mucus around it. Separately she was diagnosed with a GI obstruction. She received two sets of x-rays, spanned several hours apart to track this obstruction. The vet also called in a second opinion to corroborate what he was seeing.

Edith is doing better after being on an IV drip for almost ten hours, being given pain and anti-nausea medicine, and being given an appetite enhancer.

HOWEVER

I was told to keep a close eye on her all through the night to see if she vomits, eats or drinks (something she hadn't done in almost 24 hours). If she doesn't eat or drink, or if she vomits, then I have to bring her back to the vet for surgery ASAP tomorrow morning.

The Amanda Foundation is working with me on a timeline to pay this bill, and that's where all of you lovely animal loving people come in.

When I came home last night I thought she was dying. Her breathing, her skin elasticity (from dehydration) and her self isolation had me thinking that yesterday/today was her final day.

Today, however, I have hope. Let's hope a little harder together and get this girl all of the care she needs.
