Support Edward "Barry" Barrett's Life-Saving Heart Procedure

Donation protected
Edward "Barry" Barrett, a beloved pillar of the Grand Bahama community, recently suffered a massive heart attack on July 4, 2024, and was subsequently hospitalized for 7 days. Thanks to God's grace and his medical team's dedicated efforts, he survived. Edward has devoted his life to raising three wonderful children and supporting those around him. Now, he faces a critical medical journey to prevent another inevitable heart attack. Unfortunately, a coronary angiogram is unavailable locally in the Bahamas because of a lab outage. After extensive research and numerous phone calls, we have found the safest and most affordable method for Edward. Without medical insurance and having to travel abroad, he needs your help to ensure he receives this life-saving intervention. Please contribute to Edward Barrett's GoFundMe page and give him the chance to continue being the remarkable father, friend, and community member we all cherish. "Lucaya" will be receiving the funds, but the funds will not be utilized by Lucaya. All proceeds are directly for the organizer, Edward "Barry" Barrett's Life Saving Heart Procedure. Thank you all for your gifts.

!!!!! UPDATE 9/5/2024 !!!!!

Dear Friends and Supporters,
I want to express my deep gratitude for the overwhelming support, prayers, and financial
assistance I’ve received in response to my appeal for your help along this medical journey. Your
kindness has been a beacon of hope and strength for me.
On July 24th, thanks to the immediate care and insistence of my primary physicians in Freeport
Dr. Winston Forbes and Dr. Odia Stubbs, and to your generosity and that of others, I traveled
from The Bahamas to Medellin, Colombia, for an extremely crucial medical procedure at Clinica
El Rosario Sede El Tesoro. The following day, I underwent a Coronary Angioplasty. The severity
of my condition was significant—two arteries were 99% blocked and another was 85% blocked.
Stents were placed in the two worse arteries, and a balloon procedure was used to treat the
blockage in the third artery. Thanks to God’s grace, and the skill of the medical team in
Colombia, the procedure was a success.
I was discharged from the hospital the following evening but was required to remain in
Colombia for post-surgery observation, and for further monitoring and testing. I arrived back in
The Bahamas on August 3 rd , and although I was informed by the cardiologists in Colombia that
my heart function measured only 40%, thanks be to God, I am recovering, and believing God for
full recovery.
Your kind generosity, together with the love, and support of my family, and the compassionate
kindnesses of others has made today possible, however, my medical and travel expenses have
exceeded and exhausted all of my funding, and I am scheduled for a follow-up appointment in
Colombia on September 17th, 2024.
For this reason, I shall be eternally grateful if you would please continue to share my GoFundMe
appeal with as many others as you can, so that, God willing, I may be able to receive the
additional support I need to defray the costs of the further medical attention I require.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support, your kind-heartedness, and your generosity
during this time.

Most Faithfully,

Barry
