Support Eli Stoll Through His Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
In October 2022, Eli was diagnosed with Stage 4 ALK-Negative Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma— a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.
Eli has cycled through 4 different kinds of chemo over the past year, trying to find the one that will put him in remission enough to undergo a stem cell transplant to kick this thing completely. They had hoped he would be ready for transplant back in April of 2023, but his cancer has proven aggressive and hard to treat. It has led to fractures in his spine, lesions on his pelvis, ribs and liver, and spots on his lung. The cancer has also affected his heart and bone marrow function and spread to spots on his skin.
Chemo has taken its toll too – causing encephalopathy (swelling in the brain and seizures), and low red blood cell and plasma counts that require monitoring and frequent infusions.
March-June 2023, Eli was in and out of the hospital every few weeks. Thankfully, July has been different! He’s been able to stay at home and has been gaining strength since beginning a fourth kind of chemo.
It is now clear that this journey is going to take longer than they originally anticipated, and that the road is unpredictable. Stem cell transplant is still the main goal, but it may take a while to get there, and recovery after a stem cell transplant is also a months-long process (up to a year sometimes).
Financially, they are starting to hit a breaking point. Meagan, Eli's wife, will run out of paid time off soon and Eli’s Family Medical Leave and paid time donated by his coworkers has just reached its end. This month he will officially medically retire from his job as a clinical psychologist at the Federal Medical Center here in Rochester.
They have faced so much adversity and been so resilient, but they are stretched, both emotionally and financially.
So, we’re asking for help – to raise funds for Eli and Meagan’s monthly living expenses, medical bills, and to ensure they have support through the big medical events ahead.
