Support Elijah's Kidney Transplant Journey

I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my best friend Amy and her husband Elijah. As many of you know, Elijah has been suffering with kidney failure and had recently been placed on the kidney transplant list.

Elijah was born with one kidney and at 22 years old was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure. This caused his kidney to slowly lose function. In 2021 his symptoms associated with this started to worsen he began experiencing nausea, vomiting, and constant fatigue. In December of that same year, they welcomed their only son, Desmond. In 2022, after discussions with his doctor, plans for dialysis and placement on the transplant list were made. This year, fortunately a match has been found. Despite their joy in having found a donor, they now face multiple financial hardships. Because they are married they do not qualify for financial assistance. Child care costs for Desmond. Medications in preparation for and after surgery are extremely expensive. The short term disability that he will be receiving while recovering will significantly reduce his pay. They have also just found out that their apartment building is being sold and that their rent will be increasing by at least $800 a month.
