Support Elizabeth’s Fight Against Lung & Brain Cancer

Donación protegida
Amigos and Community,

Today, we come to you with heavy news. Our dear friend and artist, Elizabeth Rodriguez, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and with 2 brain tumors. It is a horrific shock to Elizabeth and her husband, Andy as it is to all of us. This is a very dreadful diagnosis. The news is not good.

Elizabeth is not only a beloved member of our community but a very respected visual artist. She has given so much to the community with her art classes for senior citizens, students of all ages, women, and for many young children. In addition, she has provided our communities with art projects related to the Día de Muertos, Latino Heritage Month that have dignified our culture, learning, and enjoyment. We could always depend on her willing help with fundraising for many community needs. As a strong woman who has overcome many obstacles, we could always count on her help. Elizabeth is also a fighter who is ready to take on this challenging journey and, now with our help we must support her thru this hard journey she now has to undertake.

Elizabeth’s Journey: On May 15th, Elizabeth will begin her treatment at MD Anderson, where she will undergo intensive chemotherapy to address the cancer in her lungs and the brain tumors. Stage 4 lung cancer is the most advanced type, where the cancer has spread or metastasized to both lungs, the area around the lungs, or distant organs. In Elizabeth’s case, it seems that there is also an aspect of brain metastases. The symptoms, of course, can be debilitating and will affect
her being greatly. We can only hope and pray that the treatments and possible new findings will have an effect and contain the progression of Elizabeth’s lung cancer and brain tumors.

As we all know, medical treatments are both physically demanding and financially burdensome. Artists have hard times getting insurance or even commissions for work. The diagnosis and the resulting symptoms will greatly affect her ability as an art teacher and a practicing visual artist. As we all know, the financial burden is huge due to the need for specialized medical attention, doctors, hospitals, and medicine. The need to be attended at the MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas adds more to the dire financial situation. She needs the specialized care that only the medical teams at MD Anderson can provide due to the horrific diagnosis. Elizabeth needs our support now more than ever. We need to support our community treasure, Elizabeth Rodriguez, through this painful journey.

The GoFundMe Campaign: To alleviate some of the financial stress associated with her treatment, we have set up a GoFundMe account in Elizabeth’s name. Every contribution, regardless of its size, will make a significant difference in her battle against cancer. Together, we can provide her with the resources and support she needs to focus on healing and recovery.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate: Visit Elizabeth’s GoFundMe page and contribute what you can. Every dollar counts!
2. Share: Spread the word by sharing this message with your networks. Let’s reach as many people as possible and rally around Elizabeth.

Gratitude: We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each one of you. Your kindness, generosity, and support will not only ease the financial burden but also remind Elizabeth that she is not alone in this fight. Let’s stand by her side during this challenging time.Thank you for being part of Elizabeth’s journey toward healing.
With love and hope, Friends y Familia
