Flush AVL

Our dear friend, Elle Gray DeBruhl, and her family reside in the beautiful Western Carolina mountains of Asheville, NC, whose community has been devastated by the destruction of Hurricane Helene. 

Flush AVL is an initiative to provide the people of Western North Carolina without an operating water supply, a way to simply flush their toilets. Currently, there is no timeline for water to be restored in the City of Asheville. The sewer system is still intact, but without water, they can’t properly dispose of human waste.  

Flush AVL is the best temporary solution we have to prevent a norovirus outbreak, waterborne or insect-borne diseases, dysentery, Typhus fever & even Cholera resulting from improper disposal of human waste.   

WE NEED YOUR FUNDING to purchase of about 5,000 of the tanks shown in the photo – and deploy them all around the city. The National Guard and U.S. Forest Service have committed to filling/maintaining these tanks with NON-POTABLE water (not drinkable). People will use a bucket to fill up from the tap at the bottom and then fill their toilet reservoir tank. 1 bucket = 1 flush. This is as easy as it gets right now. 

This is a dire-need situation and a matter of life and death. To be blunt, people are doing their “business” in their yards, or into plastic grocery bags and not everyone is disposing of their human waste in the same manner. If this issue is not addressed, it’s going to create another HUGE problem for this region. 

Plumbing dates back to 1700B.C. and the advancements made with sewage disposal are truly what has allowed mankind to flourish by eliminating the diseases mentioned above - that also lead to the Black Plague. Again, this is a dire-need situation.
