Hello, my name is Clare, and I’m reaching out to ask for your help for my dear friend Eman and her family who are struggling to survive in Gaza.

I live in the USA, where I’ve had the privilege of peace and stability my entire life. Sadly, Eman’s life has been the complete opposite—filled with unimaginable struggles and loss.

Eman and her husband have four wonderful children: Ibrahim (14), Alma (12), Joudy (10), and Omar (5). Like any parent, they worked hard to provide their kids with a safe and happy life. But when the war in Gaza began, their world was turned upside down.

When they fled their home, Eman thought it would only be for a few days. She didn’t pack her children’s school bags, their belongings, or even basic essentials. More than a year later, they still haven’t been able to return. Their beautiful home, which took 15 years of hard work to build, is now gone.

Here’s Eman’s story in her own words:

“We were a family of six, living a peaceful life in Gaza. After years of hard work and sacrifices, we finally built the home of our dreams—a place filled with love and hope. But the war took everything away.

We fled with nothing but the clothes we were wearing, thinking it was temporary. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. We moved from one unsafe place to another, trying to protect our kids.

We stayed in Gaza City, then in the south, and later in Khan Younis. When no place was safe, we ended up in a crowded refugee camp where conditions were unbearable. Bombings followed us everywhere we went. Even the camp wasn’t safe.

We finally found shelter in an unfinished house in Rafah, sharing it with three other families. It had no doors, no windows, no basic facilities. We endured freezing winter nights, and my daughter Judi fell ill with hepatitis.

Our home was destroyed. My husband lost his business, which was our only source of income. We’re still drowning in loans for a house that no longer exists. We are alive, but we are struggling to survive.”
