Hi, my name is Izabella and I am producing an environmentally sustainable theatre production of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing to provide opportunities for emerging creatives in a post-COVID world.
Theatre bridges cultural gaps, promotes conversation and change, provokes new thoughts, inspires innovation, allows for reflection, creates safe spaces, boosts mental health, and is a bastion of hope; for its creators and the community. Much Ado About Nothing is by young people (and one 450 year-old man) who want to do just this.
Supporting Early Career Theatre Artists
Supporting Early Career Theatre Artists
Theatre has been among the industries hardest hit by COVID, and many opportunities that once existed for those new to the theatre industry do not exist anymore. It is impossible for early-career theatre artists to get a foot in the door or find opportunities right now.
If we do not nurture our emerging artists, providing opportunities for expression and advancement, we will lose a generation of creatives. This project is about providing these opportunities, nurturing our artists, and future-proofing theatre for years to come.
Theatre and Sustainability
Traditional theatre practices and equipment make huge contributions to greenhouse gas emissions, and currently there are very few theatre groups actively pushing for a wholly greener industry. This production strives to demonstrate that it is possible to radically limit emissions and still produce a product of great artistic merit, and in doing so, lead by example for sustainability in Australian theatre.
How You Can Help
We've done the maths: To cover theatre hire, rehearsal space, insurance, and sustainable lighting, costume, set, and prop materials, we need to raise $6,914.
By donating below, you’ll support a vibrant community of emerging theatre artists, contribute to a more sustainable industry, and – most importantly – become a vital part of bringing Much Ado About Nothing to life.
