Support Emily As She Fights A 2nd Round Of Cancer
Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends-
We are here to ask for your help on behalf of Emily Krauser. Before we do though, it’s important to note that Emily has thought a lot about this process and has been hesitant to get this far. A few reasons for that include:
· It’s not easy to ask for help in such a public setting, especially after a year like 2020 that put so many people in need
· She hasn’t been ready to share broadly that she has cancer for the 2nd time in 10 years
· It is not only ironic but extremely frustrating to have just finished paying off her medical bills and now to start over; so much is out of her control, yet she must find a way to finance her health
· She doesn’t want her life and accomplishments to be defined by cancer
For further background, Emily was diagnosed with stage 1 desmoplastic small-round-cell tumor in October 2020, an extremely rare sarcoma that is mostly found in young males and luckily presented itself in such a way that it was caught early. Regardless though, since this cancer is so rare, there is no standard treatment plan and the doctors decided to put her on a strenuous chemotherapy treatment plan that includes extended overnight stays at the hospital with the requirement that it becomes her full-time priority.
Thankfully the doctors are optimistic, but the end of this journey can’t come soon enough. Emily is excited for the day that she can fully focus her attention on how best to explore her new East Coast life from seeking out every weird roadside attraction, local coffee shop and brewery in a 100 mile radius to living a life with cancer in the rearview mirror. However, she is at the point where the hospital bills are starting to come in that exceed her means to pay which is unbelievably stressful.
Imagine having to figure out how to continue to live off of long-term disability with depleted savings while the concept of living life is completely redefined. So much is unfair about this, especially the fact that she now has had two unrelated cancer diagnoses before 40, but what this means is that it’s more important now more than ever for Emily’s support system to come together and help however we can.
Any and all help you could offer to ease life a bit for Emily would be so appreciated. We will keep you updated through the Gofundme on how she is doing. In times like these, it's natural to want to reach out to a person and give your support but it may be too much if everyone reached out to Emily individually, even with well-meaning words of encouragement. That said, if you would like to offer some words of support to your donation, we can only think how much Emily would appreciate reading your words of comfort.
Thanks so much again for any support you can offer.
With appreciation and affection,
Em’s best friend Kayla, her best guy Dan, and the best family around
