Hello everyone, this is my best friend, Emily Atwood. She just graduated from college and was looking for a job within law enforcement. Unfortunately, that came to a halt when, on June 30th, 2024, she had a run-in with the cops. She and I both were celebrating my 21st birthday with a few coworkers at the bar I work at, and it came time to go home.
She was driving my car with another sober coworker, and a cop approached them both after they had parked and got out of my car. He did not pull them over, he just pulled up to them without any lights to ask them questions. They gave her all the sobriety tests, in which she passed all of them, and she only failed her breathalyzer test by a little bit, although we believe it might not have been calibrated correctly due to conflicting data.
Emily has a lawyer, however his services are costing her and her family a total of $15,000, on top of any other court costs. She is currently paying back student loans from school and her family is very low income. This is her best chance at fighting this case against her so it won’t ruin the rest of her life. If this sticks, she won’t be able to go into law enforcement like she had gone to school for and paying those loans back will be for nothing.
She has just turned 22, and she needs any help she can get. If anyone is willing to help her out, that would be greatly appreciated. She was too afraid to make one of these herself because she didn’t think anyone would care, please prove her wrong. Thank you!
