"Support Emily’s Fight for Medical Treatment"
Donation protected
Hi, everyone. My name is Kendall Taylor, the CEO of Tulsa Metro Women on Fire. I’m reaching out to ask for help for Emily, a firefighter here in Tulsa, who has been fighting an unknown medical condition for more than a year. It started out as general fatigue and not feeling well. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease (they thought) and she started her on meds. The meds immediately triggered seizures. She's been having them for about a year now. She hasn't been able to drive, she's been off the firetruck and on light duty this entire time. Two weeks before Christmas she had a horrible seizure that led to her being put in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator for several days. This girl has been an athlete her entire life and now her it's been completely flipped upside down.
Stats from 12/2023 -12/2024:
Too many seizures to count, 9 ambulance rides (12/27 the most recent that I witnessed myself), more than a month cumulative time in the hospital (more than a week on ICU floors), 25+ meds tried, 20+ outpatient blood draws, 23+ doctors seen, 40+ doctor visits, 3 months and ongoing physical, speech, and occupational therapy, one walker, one shower chair, one medically induced coma, one ventilator, one intubation, half of head of hair lost (and continuing to lose)
Emily is a single mom of two kids that have had to witness all of this happen with their mom. Despite her own struggles, she has always been there for others. Now, it’s our turn to stand by her.
The financial burden of ongoing medical care has been overwhelming. Emily needs our help to cover past medical bills and the upcoming costs of treatment, including traveling outside of Oklahoma to see specialists who can hopefully determine a diagnosis and guide her toward recovery.
We’re asking for your support, no matter how big or small. Your generous donations will go directly toward helping Emily with:
Hospital and medical bills
Future treatments and specialist consultations
Travel expenses to receive care outside of the state
Daily living expenses for Emily and her two children during this difficult time.
Together, we can help Emily fight this battle and give her the hope she deserves.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
