Support Eric Day, Jr.'s Fight Against Cancer

Hi, my name is E. Maxine Day (a.k.a. Eitwanda Day) and I am raising money to help my cousin.

My cousin, Eric Day, Jr., has always been strong and resilient and I don’t expect anything less in his fight against cancer. Keeping the faith, as we as a family know how to do, is the glue that is holding him and his family together in one of the most challenging times in their lives. 

Eric was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and has had one surgery thus far and undergoing treatments. Then there is a second surgery scheduled very soon.

Eric’s journey back to good health has only just begun. The road ahead will be long, with a few challenges. There are already a few before him. One challenge is his inability to work during this time. Another challenge is the denial for disability (currently being appealed). Then a very unexpected challenge, his wife’s inability to work due to a debilitating injury requiring surgery and a long recovery. 

Due to these unexpected turn of events, it has caused Eric and his household to struggle, financially, adding undue stress and pressure during this very trying time of his life. There has also been a loss of medical insurance because of the lack of employment. In addition, medical bills are stacking up as well as day-to-day expenses for running the household and comfortably living. Quite a few financial obligations are tremendously behind, especially the mortgage. We as a family have been doing the very best we can to help, but now we realize that we need the community and beyond to wrap themselves around Eric at this time as a huge village of support.

Of course, you would never want this to happen to anyone, but Eric isn’t just anyone. If you know Eric, you know his infectious laugh, ability to make others laugh, love for his family and friends, and passion for working hard and being a provider. Whether Eric is your family member, friend, family friend, class/school-mate or a complete stranger that you’ve gotten to know through this story, he is a jolly soul that never meets a stranger and brings joy to everyone that he encounters. If you personally know Eric, then you must know that he’ll help family, friends and even a stranger in anyway that he can. Well now the tables have been turned; Eric, his wife and children they need the help of family, friends strangers and the community at large.

I am reaching out and appealing to everyone that reads this story, asking you to provide any financial help that you are able to, as well as appealing to you to share this with others that they may do the same.
