Support Eric Turkow Jr.'s Personalized Learning Journey

Hey there, my name is Sara Turkow. I am the mother of an amazing kid, Eric Turkow Jr.

Over the years, we have found out that Eric works best alone and online for school. That sadly doesn't leave us many options to educate him. The public setting not only left him behind, but the constant bullying with no help from the school left us with one option: removing Eric from public school.

We did homeschool for a while, but education-wise, I could not keep up with Eric to fulfill his need to learn. So, we put him into the public virtual program through the school district.

Eric seems to thrive greatly in this setting, but he can only go at the pace of the school and he gets bored.

Recently, while dealing with my other child's 504/IEP meetings, I realized that a lot of these administrators don't care about the students' needs; they care about getting them to barely passing and not being "audited" as repeatedly termed to me. They do not care about my children's success; they are eager to just pass along.

Eric gets the bare minimum on his IEP and the speech education he does receive is spotty at best.

Honestly, I am tired of fighting the system. I want the best for my kids without the hoops.

I found a program online that allows Eric to work at his own pace, but the tuition is $2000 annually ($948 if we can get the scholarship).

If anyone can help, I will be forever grateful.
