Support Erik's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Friday evening (1/24/25) Erik was taken by ambulance to the ICU. He unfortunately had an aorta dissection. He had to be transferred to another hospital via Life Flight. While on the operating table his aorta ruptured. Luckily the surgeon was able to save his life; however, he is not without complications. Erik was in a medically induced coma and has been on seizure medication until February 1st.
As of yesterday (2/7/25), Erik underwent a tracheostomy, and has not had a seizure in almost a week. He is slowly coming out of his coma and is in for a long journey of recovery once he finally comes to, thanks to the strokes he suffered while under operation.
Today (2/8/25), the doctors are further reducing the seizure medications and attempting to wake him up. He will likely have to be under light sedation due to his breathing tube. In 1 week, Erik's wife will be out of sick leave, and left to take care of Erik and any further time she takes off work will be unpaid.
Update: As of 2/11/25 Erik is making progress. He is awake and has been sitting up on the edge of the bed. He is still hooked up to the ventilator but can mostly breathe on his own.
Erik is an amazing guy with a million different hobbies and passions. He has a daughter and a wife who have been dealing with this along with the support of their families since Erik's aorta ruptured. Any amount of donation and kind words would help unvariably.
