Support Erin's Fight Against Leukemia

A few weeks ago, Erin began settling into her new career as an oncology nurse practitioner, starting her first semester in a post-master's advanced certificate program, and had just signed a contract to purchase her first co-op. Unfortunately, just one week after signing the contract, she was diagnosed with leukemia, turning her world upside down.

While Erin is fortunate to have healthcare coverage at the moment, her battle with leukemia requires her to be hospitalized for several months for intensive treatment. Doctors have advised that she will be unable to return to work for at least a year. Because of this, she had to withdraw from purchasing her co-op. Despite her dire circumstances, the seller refused to return half of deposit, even though they were fully aware of her diagnosis.

To make matters worse, Erin only recently returned to working at the hospital and has limited time available for sick leave. She has already exhausted her time off and is now relying on donations of sick time from colleagues. However, the hospital's strict policies regarding sick time donations have made it difficult for her to receive the support she desperately needs.

This is why I’m reaching out today, with a heavy heart, to ask for your help. Erin has dedicated the last eight years of her life to nursing, beginning as a hematology-oncology nursing student intern and eventually becoming an oncology nurse practitioner. She has also served as an emergency department nurse (through COVID), a SAFE nurse supporting survivors of sexual assault, and as a board member of NYRN, where she took part in numerous medical missions around the world, providing care and compassion to those in need. Now, it’s Erin who needs our support.

We have set up this GoFundMe to help Erin recover the money she lost from the co-op deposit and provide some financial stability as she faces a long road ahead without a reliable income. Any contribution, big or small, will make a huge difference in helping Erin through this incredibly difficult time.
