Esther's performance goes to France
Donation protected
Our performance piece "A Letter to White America" was invited to perform at Festival Tamad'iArts, Carvin, France May 21, 2017.
I am raising funds to support this incredible opportunity.
Funds will go towards:
$800 Esther rountrip plane Philly-Paris
$300 travel expenses in country
$400 costume/set
$500 honorarium for singer/songwriter Nikia Camp
While this will happen no matter our funding, it would be incredible to have your help!
Baker-Tarpaga questions the cultural landscape of a whitewashed America and the potential for healing. Thinking about her own family heritage and legacy moving forward Baker-Tarpaga uses popular culture references and performance art to address the ongoing racist political state of our country. Singer and guitarist Nikia Camp accompanies with soulful melodies.
This project has ongoing audience participation and you can read audience members posts @alettertowhiteamerica on Instagram. Thanks to residencies at Headlong, Fringe Arts, and performance commissions at BAAD!ASS Women’s Festival, and LabBodies Light Happenings.
Your support will mean the world to us.
This beautiful festival is organized by Burkinabe artist, Aminata Sanou. I am thankful to all the curators and artists who are activating and organizing with integrity, and often under tight economic constraints.
