Support Ethiopian Nursing Students after a tragic accident

  On September 24, 2024, four international nursing students from Ethiopia — Solyana Bekele, Ruth Kebede, Sitra Kedir, and Nebiyat Belay — studying at Mankato State University, were involved in a devastating three-vehicle accident while returning from their clinicals. These young women, dedicated to serving others as future healthcare workers, are now being treated at Mayo Clinic for serious injuries that will take months to heal.
 
  As nursing students and CNAs, their jobs and clinicals require heavy lifting and long hours on their feet—things they won’t be able to do for some time. This accident has left them with both physical and financial challenges, making it difficult for them to return to work and continue their education.
 
  While we await the finalization of insurance claims and still don’t know the full costs of their medical bills, your support will help them manage living expenses and ease the burden during this difficult time.
 
  My name is Kaleb Betwos, and I am a mutual friend of the four students involved in the accident. The funds raised will be split equally between the four students and used for living expenses and other necessary costs they are facing while they are unable to work. If their medical expenses are not fully covered by insurance, they may also use the funds to help pay those bills. I will transfer the funds directly to their personal bank accounts at agreed intervals, withdrawing the money upon the agreement of all four recipients, until the fund is depleted.
