Support Eva Baker's Brave Battle

Eva Baker is a sweet 9-year-old girl from De Pere who loves chickens...and art...and her twin brother Daniel. In January, Eva started not feeling well: at first being treated for a sinus infection and then a migraine. After multiple ER visits, Eva had a seizure at home and was rushed by ambulance back to the hospital.

They learned she had a mass in/near the thalamus of her brain and within an hour, was taken by helicopter to Milwaukee. She was diagnosed with pediatric high grade glioma and had surgery in Milwaukee days after the tumor was discovered. They could not remove the entire tumor. Eva entered into both chemo and radiation, tolerating both incredibly well.

High-grade gliomas are challenging to treat because they grow rapidly into the brain, and survival rate is typically between one and five years

But the family holds on to faith and to hope for new treatments. And as long as Eva is feeling well, they are giving her a rich life full of family and love and experiences.

The Baker family as a whole has been through the absolute unthinkable. Last year, they learned the family had a gene mutation (TP53) that can propel cancers.

Eva's grandpa, Dan Baker, lost his battle with prostate cancer in his 50s.

Eva's 11-year-old first cousin, Hadley Baker, is also fighting a soft-tissue cancer: two innocent little girls in the same family, each fighting for their lives. Every parent's worst nightmare. These girls are the epitome of strength, resilience and courage.

And Hadley's dad, Kevin Baker, has fought thyroid cancer and was recently diagnosed with colon cancer.

No family should have to carry such a heavy burden...it's unimaginable...and we we want to make sure they aren't carrying it alone.
