Support Father Kalbert’s Ministry

Donation protected
I am Deacon Tim Stevenson and would like to tell you about a special priest whom I recently had the opportunity to spend a week with. His name is Father Kalbert Achora. He is from the Diocese of Arua in Uganda and was ordained in 2011.

Father Kalbert has studied in Rome and last year his bishop sent him to the United States for additional schooling. He is currently a student at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where he is earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

During our time together, I witnessed Father Kalbert as a person who truly lives the gospel message of Jesus Christ. I witnessed his constant attention to three things:

  • to love and trust God
  • to love and care for our families
  • to love and serve our neighbor

During Father Kalbert’s stay, he celebrated daily Masses and preached a message for the missions on the weekend. He also participated at a Christian men’s group and visited The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion.

With the people he met, Father Kalbert shared some of his life’s story. His story includes that when he was 14 years old his mother died after giving birth to his sibling. He spoke of his awareness of how God has provided for him.

Before coming to the United States last August, Father’s bishop told him that he had funds to pay for the schooling in the United States, but he didn’t have funds for the airfare. So, Father Kalbert sold his small car to pay for his airfare and visa. He arrived in the United States with $15 in his pocket.

The Benedictines, whom he is staying with in Kansas, paid for Father Kalbert’s airfare to get him from Kansas to Green Bay for the mission appeal. I couldn’t help but think of Father when hearing the responsorial psalm this past weekend (July 28).

The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.” ~ Psalm 145

Father Kalbert’s witness and presence touched many people while he was here. Since he left, some people have asked how they can support Father’s ministry directly. Before people even knowing of the need in this GoFundMe campaign, they have felt called to support Father and his ministry.

Because Father Kalbert sold his car to get to the United States for his studies, upon his return to Uganda in May 2025, he needs a personal car to do pastoral work.

A good but used vehicle in Uganda is estimated to cost between $17,000 and $18,000. This GoFundMe campaign is therefore to mobilize funds to support Father Kalbert in acquiring a vehicle to do pastoral work when he returns to Uganda.

I am thankful for your prayerful consideration of supporting Father Kalbert in his pastoral ministry.

May God bless you,
Deacon Tim
