Support Fernando Rodriguez's Fight for Life and Recovery
Donation protected
Update: Fernando was not able to survive for long after his 6 hour long surgery that was the only way to save him. He fought hard but was called to God early yesterday morning (Tuesday, September 3rd), much to all of our devastation. We thank all of you for your thoughts, kind words and donations and we remind you to hug your loved ones whenever you can. Life is precious, unpredictable and definitely too short. These funds will be used to help his young son have a bright future. Though we can’t help Fernando anymore, we can help his son and we appreciate anything that you can give towards that goal. God bless!
My name is Chuck Metzger. I am humbly asking for any financial help that you can provide for my cousin, Fernando Rodriguez. Fernando is a hard-working, single father who unexpectedly fell gravely ill while visiting family in Nicaragua and has been hospitalized since August 30, 2024 due to sepsis related to a condition called Bacterial Endocarditis complicated by an abscess (collection of pus in the heart). This is an infection of his aortic valve and it has caused the aortic valve to fail, resuling in severe heart failure that is complicated by sepsis, which is a systemic infection. Due to his tenuous/critical status, the only option to save his life was to have him undergo emergent aortic valve replacement and abscess removal at a hospital in Managua, Nicaragua. As I type this, he is still fighting for his life on the operating table and we are praying for the best. His best case scenario is to have his surgery be successful with extended post-operative care that will likely be 1-2 weeks more in the hospital, at a minimum, along with an extended course of IV antibiotics just to survive this. He lives in Pompano Beach and has no insurance to cover these enormous and ongoing costs that he is incurring in Nicaragua. He has a 1 year old son that he has to continue to support and he will not be able to work for the foreseeable future as he recovers from this devastating illness. We must help him and his family! He has helped those around him by providing shelter and/or financial help for years without asking for anything in return and he really needs help now. Please give anything that you can. Though I do not know what the final bill will be, I anticipate that it will be much more than $100,000 and so we are just trying to get him as much help as is reasonably possible so that he can just focus on continuing to fight and heal. Thank you from Fernando, his son, Noah, his brother, Sergio, his mother, Marianella and our entire family!!!
