Women in college sports, not everyone has football money!
Many college sports, especially women’s sports can often be underfunded and under valued. We don’t have “football team” money or support but we have the same drive, grit and desire to compete and win! We are the mighty Eagles Equestrian Team. We are made up of 7 girls, most who are mucking stalls before school to cover the weekly lessons which are required to be on the team. That’s right, we pay to practice! $600 a month, each for monthly lessons to prepare for our competitions. We plan to restore the Florida Gulf Coast University Equestrian Team to its former glory by competing against the larger colleges and winning! FGCU will finance our teams hotel cost. Other than that in the past we have relied on our parents to fund our lessons, uniforms, travel expenses, and fees. Our goal is is to purchase matching polo style shirts with our team logo, provide financial aid for the girls who are an integral part of the team but can not afford the monthly lessons, purchase saddle pads with the team logo and cover competition fees. Our cost include 7 girls with monthly lessons of $600 each for a total of $4200 a month, uniforms for seven girls, saddle bags and pads and travel cost for competitions . We have a fundraising goal of $20,000. If everyone that saw this donated $10 we could fund our Equestrian Team. If you can’t donate please share our post to help with awareness. Most people don’t realize how underfunded small University sports are. People don’t know that we buy our own uniforms and pay to practice. Please consider supporting our team, sharing our post and watch these Eagles soar!
