Support Fig's Battle Against Cancer

My name is Taylor DeCecca, I am from Lexington, KY and we are asking for donations for my sweet Labrador Retriever Fig who has just been unexpectedly diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer at only age 4. We are heartbroken and beyond devastated by this news and have spent the last 48 hours seeing 3 different emergency vets, and her home vet to reach this diagnosis.

Monday night after a normal evening with her, we rushed her to the emergency vet after noticing she was short of breath, only to find out in the following hours she had fluid on her chest crushing her lungs and needed to have a chest tap to remove it to keep her alive. They successfully tapped her chest and removed over 2 litres of fluid which weighed almost 5 pounds and said if we had not brought her in she would’ve suffocated and passed that night. They were able to test the cells from the fluid and diagnose her with Lymphoma cancer which absolutely shattered our family seeing as 24 hours prior she was completely healthy and we had zero idea what was to come.

We now have been referred to the Cincinnati MedVet oncology unit for a CT scan, biopsy, and a treatment plan. We are so thankful for the help and support these wonderful vets have given our sweet Fig and saved her life by tapping her chest. The vet bills however are adding up and we have already spent thousands with the 3 separate emergency vet visits and are looking at upwards of $10k if not more for everything upcoming with her treatments and the oncology costs with everything they have to do and tests they have to run. I have never and would never typically make a GoFundMe, but we are up to our ears in vet bills already with thousands more in costs to come and we want to give our sweet Fig the best chance possible with the best vet care possible so we have decided to create one to help cover the costs.

The vets think her chances are strong with her only being 4, we want to give her everything we’ve got to keep her alive and healthy since she has so much life left to live.
