Support firefighter Mike Black's recovery
Donation protected
Hi, this is the Milmay Volunteer Fire Company. Our Assistant Chief Mike Black was severely injured while working at his career firefighting job. Monday, January 15th Mike was on a routine call for a fire in one of the towers at his facility, while fighting this fire 150ft up in the tower he was caught in an explosion. This explosion threw him from the doorway he was standing in back into the guard rail that saved him from getting thrown off the tower. The rescue team did a rope rescue and lowered him down a little over 100ft down the tower. Mike suffered multiple broken bones in his left leg and a dislocated ankle which kept him from getting down the tower with his own strength. Mike also suffered burns ranging from 1st to 3rd degree throughout his body but most severely on his forehead where his helmet got blown off. Mike was transported to the hospital immediately and is now recovering in a wheel chair. Mike's recovery will be pretty long and he will be out of work for the unforeseeable future. Mr. Black has a wife and 5 kids at home with him. He is nothing but a help to the community and we would love to help our brother out in anyway we possibly can. We would appreciate all of your prayers and any love you can send to his family.
