My cousin Jeff and his wife Stacie are full-time firefighters for Sandy.
Stacie also works part-time for Life Flight as a critical care paramedic.
Their lives were turned upside down a couple of weeks ago when Stacie was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of Leukemia called Myeloid Sarcoma.
Stacie was admitted to the Huntsman Cancer Institute right away to start chemotherapy, and she will be there for 4-6 weeks. She will continue chemotherapy in preparation for a bone marrow transplant, where she will have another lengthy inpatient stay.
This is believed to be job-related. Firefighters are exposed to many harmful cancer-causing chemicals and carcinogens every day. Stacie loves her job as a firefighter/paramedic and is one of the most dedicated and caring in her field.
Jeff and Stacie have 2 beautiful daughters, and we know she's going to fight and overcome this. In an effort to make things a little easier for her and her family, donations are being collected to be used for fuel, food, and bills that need to be paid with the loss of income they're experiencing. Any donation, no matter how small, will help. This is one way as a community we can show appreciation for the service they've given all these years as first responders. 100% of the donations go directly to her family. Thank you!
