Support Florida Transwoman's Transition Journey
Donation protected
Hi everyone, I hate asking for help, I’d much rather suffer alone, but I’m working on it hence this fundraiser.
I am a 23 year old transwoman living in Florida. I’ve medically transitioned for a year and a half now. Transitioning has allowed me to feel, see, and live for the first time, lifting a fog of misery & depression. It is currently illegal to change your gender legally in Florida, and changing your name costs over $400.
Although HRT has assisted in gender euphoria & feeling more comfortable as myself, there’s a ways to go. I actively pay $50 for hormones a month (that’s WITH insurance). I pay $125 for weekly electrolysis sessions, averaging $500 a month. That’s $550 alone on transition related expenses which are necessary.
I plan on getting FFS (facial feminization surgery) as hormones cannot reduce bone masculinisation caused by testosterone, only surgery will. For me this necessitates a trachea shave, brow reduction and a chin & jaw reduction to alleviate the lasting gender dysphoria/in-congruency that HRT simply cannot help with alone. This typically costs $30,000-$50,000 alone not including airfare, and stay to my preferred out of state surgeon (Florida FFS surgeons are lacking or below par) and recovery time.
I am a costume designer and work in advertising at a local newspaper, which funds the arts. I also lead LGBTQ+ training and advocacy with local Queer organizations. All to create a better space for the Queer & Trans Youth of Florida. I plan on attending grad school for my MFA in costume design to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine.
I would be deeply grateful to anyone willing to donate or share this campaign. You are assisting in me achieving my dreams & allowing me to live in my truest authenticity. Thank you so much and have a wonderful week ✨
