Support for a beloved family doctor

4/16/24 UPDATE: Vance is still fighting.

Vance had his planned surgery in '23, and it was a success. Unfortunately, however, he received more devastating news that the cancer had spread to other areas, so he was forced to resume radiation and chemo in late '23. As of today, he is still actively going to sessions every Wednesday to beat this thing. Needless to say, this entire process has drained him mentally, physically, and financially.

Which brings us to the inquiries about medical records. Vance says the records have been secured, so your info is safe. The issue is that he can no longer afford the rent for his practice because he cannot work. As a result, the records are being held until the back rent is paid.

I understand this is not the information his patients want to hear, but I do not have any more updates now. I'm at a loss on how to resolve this issue, but if you have any ideas please email me here. I will come here with another update once I have any new information.

That said, Vance still needs your help. He is having trouble paying his basic bills and keeping food in the fridge. His cell number has Z@lle attached, and you can always donate here.

Thank you all for your love and support, and please keep Vance in your prayers and thoughts.

OLD UPDATE:

Hi, my name is Tii, and I am writing on behalf of a good friend and neighbor, Vance.

Dr. Vance Boddy was born in Mansfield, OH, and named after his father. His parents met in Atlanta, where his Dad was the church chorister, and his mother sang alto in the choir. Dr. Boddy is a vibrant, supportive friend, father, brother, uncle, and next-door neighbor whom I have known for over 10 years.

In October 2000, when Dr. Boddy opened his solo family medical practice to service Douglas and Cobb counties in GA, he started to realize a lifelong dream – to have his goal since early childhood of having a practice modeled after Marcus Welby or any of the dozens of returned medical missionaries that his Dad would bring home after church for lunch -- as they regaled and inspired him with their stories.

After 22 years of dedicated practice, Dr. Boddy got the devastating news he had metastatic rectal cancer. Since then, he has completed several months of excruciating chemo and radiation treatments, all while continuing to treat patients. He is now anticipating surgery in April of 2023 that, according to his doctors, should result in complete recovery. (Fingers crossed)

Unfortunately, in his fight, Dr. Boddy's practice faces a significant financial challenge. He has lost months of service to the community during his treatments and will lose even more time in recovery from surgery in the coming months. Dr. Boddy employs a small staff that he considers to be the driving force of his practice, and wants to ensure his team is cared for while he recovers. We need your hearts and help to assist Dr. Boddy with medical expenses to cover the remaining cancer treatments and ensure the practice stays open to serve the community.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for opening your hearts to us in this time of need! Any help is appreciated. Please share this appeal again with your network, friends, and families.
