Bill Matthews-Beloved Husband, Father, Veteran, and Musician
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
We are reaching out during a difficult time to ask for your help and support. Bill Matthews has recently been admitted to hospice care, a decision that comes with both emotional and financial challenges. The cost of room and board at the hospice facility has become an unexpected burden, and we are seeking help to ensure he can remain in the compassionate environment where he is receiving the care and comfort he needs.
Bill has lived an extraordinary life. He grew up along the shores the Chesapeake Bay and attended Washington College before being drafted to serve in Vietnam, where he answered the call of duty with courage and commitment. After returning from the war, he moved to New Hampshire and built a successful life as a father of 3 and the owner of a restaurant and inn, creating a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike.
Music has always been at the heart of who Bill is. During his years in New Hampshire, he played at the legendary Folkway with the group Wright On Jazz. Later, he returned to the Eastern Shore, where he became a well-loved figure in Kent County’s music scene, performing with groups such as Banjo Man and Bill and Guys and Doll alongside Tom McHugh, Tom Anthony, and Sue Matthews.
A man of strong character and unique charm, Bill has always loved good music, great company, and a fine cigar. For over 25 years, he has shared his life with his beloved wife, Irene, in Grasonville. Now, she is standing by his side during this journey, and we are asking for your help to stand with them during this challenging time.
Any contribution you can make, no matter the size, will go directly toward the cost of care, helping to ease the financial burden on Irene and the family. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you share this campaign with others who may be able to help.
Thank you for your generosity, your kindness, and for keeping Bill and his family in your thoughts.
With gratitude,
The Matthews Family
