Support for a dear friend and colleague

Donation protected
As most of you are aware, former guide and current volunteer Nellie Neumann and her husband recently suffered a devastating house fire, losing pretty much everything. Thankfully Nellie and her husband are physically unharmed but face a long road ahead.

Nellie spent over 15 years as a guide, serving under both the old Capitol Guide Service and the new AOC Visitor Services. Even if you never worked with her, you probably would recognize her as the volunteer who is posted by the 9/11 memorial plaque almost every Thursday.

The labor movement is built upon the principles of organization, collective action, and mutual aid—ideas embodies by the word “union”. In keeping with this spirit of solidarity, your Local 658 is organizing a Go Fund Me to help Nellie and her husband during this difficult time. Please do not feel obligated to donate—we know this is a tough time for many—but if you’re able, we hope you’ll contribute what you’re comfortable donating to help our former colleague.
