Support for a Family with Faith for Baby Julius

Hey guys! My name is Emonnie and I’m a 27 year old NICU mom to a sweet 2 month boy named Julius. Before Julius arrived we were told multiple times that he would never survive outside of the womb but his dad and I, along with our families had faith that despite what the doctors were saying God’s plan was much bigger and better. And it was. Julius arrived on the 17th of August and he’s been in the NICU ever since.

Shortly after being born we found out that Julius has what you call, Thanataphoric Dysplasia which is what some may call the most lethal form or dwarfism that most don’t survive minutes or even days but were grateful that he’s defying the odds thus far. While thanatophoric dysplasia (TD) is one of the most common life-threatening forms of skeletal dysplasia, survival is sometimes possible with life-sustaining interventions. There are two distinct forms of TD, type 1 and type 2. Its incidence is approximately two to five in 100,000 births. TD tends to effect the development of the lungs because of the small real estate that their bodies have, so he’s been receiving ventilation support to help the development process within his little body.

While we are seeing much improvement, there’s no current date for Julius’ coming home and as you can imagine this journey has taken a toll on our family in many ways. With such a rare condition it is important that even while in the hospital we stay on top of his care, learning him in and out right next to his nurses and doctors. With that, we are now strictly a one income household trying to maintain our current and in preparation for when baby Julius comes home and we are in need of assistance for major necessities for our family, especially baby Julius for he’ll need to come home with assistance.
