Support for a mother battling Cancer
Donation protected
For those who aren't familiar with me or our story, my name is Jocelyn and in December 2018 my mother Dilma was diagnosed with a rare Sarcoma. Her cancer is malignant and aggressive. In February 2019 she underwent a surgery of 5 hours to remove the initial mass. She has undergone 33 days of radiation and has received 2 different types of chemotherapy. It was unsuccessful and the mass regrew. In April 2020 we almost lost her, her mass had grown uncontrollably, and the doctors didn't know what else to do except for give her morphine for the pain and place her in hospice. She is now on chemo number 3 and fortunately it has been keeping her stable. For those who do know me, know that my mother is everything to my family and I. She is always there when you need her and is always making you laugh or putting a smile on your face. She is the glue, she's the light and the happiness of our world and will do anything for anyone who's in need. She had aspirations of being a teacher, but when she came to this country all she did was work hard for our family and teach us to have good morals, and work hard in school. Thankfully after 12 years, her dreams of having all her children together came true. Her life was never easy leaving family behind and 3 young daughters, but she made sacrifices to better our future as a whole. When she was diagnosed, our world flipped upside down. She was always very independent, strong, and worked 7 days a week, so when she found out she couldn't work anymore it hurt her in many ways. Her hair began to fall and her body began to change, and this greatly impacted her and all of us. Although its been very challenging, we encourage her to always think positive and support her in every way possible. She is a sister, an aunt, a wife, a mother of 4 daughters, a grandmother to 3 grandkids, a nanny of 3 young adults she helped raise, a dedicated co-worker at TJmaxx for 11yrs, and a friend. She is my role model and has taught me to be caring, loving, understanding, giving, and compassionate. As you know times have become very tough, especially during this pandemic. Unfortunately, it has become difficult to afford groceries for my parents and I, on top of paying bills, and keeping up with their home. Traveling 3 consecutive days a week into the city for her 8 hr treatment, and medical expenses, has also become costly. I wish I could do more, but I'm also currently in school, so it can become difficult. Her birthday is also coming up on December 26th and this year my only wish is that friends, family and loved ones please help share our story and help donate to my mother to alleviate the financial stress we are in. Whatever donations will greatly be appreciated, I will keep you all posted on our journey and we wish you a happy and healthy year.
Sincerely-
Jocelyn
