Support for Adam's Survival after a Stroke

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
On March 16th, 2024, our beloved Adam's life took a devastating turn. What was meant to be a day of celebration for his 28th birthday quickly turned into a fight for survival. Adam suffered a traumatic stroke that left him on the brink of death, with his heart racing at an alarming rate of 200 beats per minute and his body barely responsive.
Thanks to the swift actions of the medical team at Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital, Adam's life was saved. The skilled surgeons successfully removed the blood clot from his brain, allowing him to regain control of his limbs.
Just when we thought the worst was behind us, Adam experienced a second stroke due to internal bleeding. This setback left him with slurred speech, loss of motor control, and a heart rate that soared to dangerous levels. For days, he remained bedridden in the ICU, his body weak and his heart struggling to maintain a normal rhythm.
Despite undergoing a cardioversion procedure to address his irregular heartbeat, Adam's journey toward full recovery is far from over. The stroke has left him with significant brain damage, impacting his ability to walk, talk, and perform everyday tasks. As a result, he’s unable to drive and relies entirely on a caretaker or personal driver (currently his devoted parents) to accompany him to all appointments and therapy sessions.
To make things more complicated, the primary suspicion for the blood clot stems from a past injury. Adam's medical journey has been a series of battles. It began with a spinal surgery in 2017, which left him with severe nerve damage and bedridden for months. Despite these challenges, Adam's determination never wavered. He was a bright student, always active, and passionate about his education, however this forced him to leave his current studies in Mechanical Engineering at Kettering University.
After taking a couple years to recover, he finally returned to continue his education at Michigan Tech University, but on May 2021, Adam faced yet another hurdle when he experienced a Stage 5 traumatic brain injury. A simple accident during finals week at resulted in a fractured skull, frontal lobe hemorrhage, and whiplash injuries to his neck. Following the accident, Adam spent six weeks hospitalized, bedridden, and under extreme supervision. He faced severe balance issues, cognitive difficulties, and verbal communication problems, often speaking only a few words at a time. This ordeal again forced him to abandon his studies.
As Adam's friends and loved ones, we refuse to let him face this uphill battle alone. We're reaching out to our community for support in funding his ongoing medical expenses, rehabilitation, and necessary accommodations. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in Adam's journey toward reclaiming his life.
But more than financial assistance, Adam needs your love, encouragement, and prayers. Your words of support will serve as a beacon of hope on his darkest days, reminding him that he's not fighting this battle alone.
Together, we can help Adam overcome this obstacle and emerge stronger than ever. Thank you for your generosity and kindness during this difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Adams' sister Natalia, mother Ewa and father Janusz.
