Support for Airton!

My boyfriend, Jose Airton dos Santos, 25, and I went swimming at the Walnut Grove Community Centre pool on Saturday, January 4. Airton is from Brazil, working and studying here on a student visa for the past 2 years.

When we returned to the Family Locker room, we discovered that his locker was bent and hanging open, completely empty. It looked as if someone had used force to break inside.

He had his clothes, wallet, passport, ID, phone, and car keys stolen. Minutes later, we discovered that they had also stolen his car from the parking lot. There was multiple fraud charges on his credit card less than an hour after the theft, including an attempt to authorize an Amazon account.

Airton has no auto-theft insurance. The police informed us that there had been 10 previous thefts in the last week at the Walnut Grove pool.

"The secretary at the front desk simply asked if we needed quarters for the lockers!" Airton said in disbelief. "This is a public community space run by the Township. People need to be made aware of the increased risk at this location, as this loss has been completely devastating. They have taken everything that I have."

Airton and I had saved for a trip to Brazil at the end of next month to visit his family for the first time together. He has not seen his family in over a year. With his passport stolen, the trip is no longer possible.

Beware of Walnut Grove Community Centre and do not leave valuables in the locker rooms! If you can, please help and donate to this page to help him towards the costs for everything that was lost! Anything helps!
