Support for Alfred Pocari

It is with a heavy heart I write of my dear uncle, Alfred Pocari, who was struck by a car with an uninsured driver who ran a red light while he was crossing the street on his way to work on July 19, 2019.  As a result, he has suffered major brain trauma.  The care team at Mt. Sinai are working hard to give him a chance at life, but there is very little hope.  The family is standing by his side as he fights for his life. We are counting on his strong will and optimism for life to carry him through this horrible tragedy. New York Daily article covering the accident. 

 
Alfred is a dreamer - he never gives up and encourages all around him to never lose hope.  His infectious smile and ability to tell a story better than anyone I have known, has made him the glue of the family, life of the party and my life long mentor and role model.  When he puts his mind to something, there is nothing and no one to stop or measure up to his thinking and making abilities.  He loves to dance, travel and above all, spending time with his three granddaughters: Enisa, Elena & Eliana, who just celebrated their first birthdays.
