Support for Alicia Silva and Family
We are sending this request with a heavy heart asking for positive thoughts, strength, support and prayers for an amazing mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Ms. Alicia Silva. She underwent surgery for a brain tumor on Friday, August 21st. She has since undergone additional surgeries due to swelling and complications around the affected area of her brain. She is in the ICU at Desert Regional Hospital and her condition is critical.
Ms. Silva has been a dedicated staff member at Saúl Martínez Elementary in Mecca, CA over the last ten years, serving our ASES Program as an Art Teacher, Coach of our 6-time Champion Volleyball Team, leader of our Family Paint Nights, seamstress for the dresses of our Ballroom Team, as well as designer of our school parade floats for the annual Mecca Parade. In addition, her amazing children, Alice, Nestor, and Isaac Martinez, attended Saul Martinez School and many of their teachers will remember her generosity and willingness to chaperone, volunteer, or donate supplies for their classrooms. Ms. Silva also organized an annual non-profit event, “Isaac’s Smile” that sponsored special-needs students during Christmas time.
Ms. Silva’s daughter, Alice, is only 19 years old and has now taken on the responsibilities of the family as well as making important medical decisions. Many of you may not know that Ms. Silva is the sole provider for her beautiful family of five which includes Alice, her eldest daughter, Nestor, 16 years old, Isaac, 13 years old with Down Syndrome, and her mother Esther who also needs specialized care. The entire Silva Family really needs our support! In addition to prayers and positive messages, we have been dropping off prepared meals for the family so that they can focus on other important matters. Please send me a message if you would like to help with meals. Monetary donations for living expenses are also needed. Any support you can provide during this very difficult time will be very appreciated!!
