Support for Amber Hafer's Family
Donation protected
In the early hours of Wednesday, April 19, Amber (Latimer) Hafer left this world suddenly and unexpectedly to rest in the arms of Jesus. But she left so much more behind than just her earthly body. She left behind her loving husband, Dax, and her four children, Chetty (18), Emma (16), Anna (13), and Sophia (5), all of whom her heart lived for. This page has been set up for those who would like to love Amber’s special people in a tangible way.
Amber’s life has been largely defined in recent years by mitochondrial disease – a.k.a. “mito” for those of you who have followed Amber’s journey – a disease she both hated and yet used to encourage hundreds of people. She was an educator, advocate, coach, and general support for those who suffered and whose family members suffered from this horrible illness.
Amber and Dax were fully aware of the effects mito would have on Amber’s body, and that it would ultimately be the disease that would cause her body to shut down. However, based on family medical history and Amber’s overall heath, they also believed this would not happen for many, many more years.
What’s more, due to Amber’s condition, she was unable to secure any substantive insurance to care for her children in the event of her passing. Dax and Amber clung to the hope that this would be a non-issue until their children were much older and independent. This was tragically not the case. Now, in the midst of overwhelming grief, Amber’s family is faced with medical bills, funeral expenses, upcoming college tuition, and many other costs associated with raising children. Should you choose to give financially, please know that all funds will be used to cover funeral expenses, and to directly support Chetty, Emma, Anna, and Sophia. Thank you for your love and support.
