Support for Amy Thies

Donation protected

Hi,

A small group of friends and family have come together to ask for support for Amy Thies and her family - Alex, Ava (8) and Juliette (5).

On July 31, during a routine Saturday evening watching TV, Amy walked to the kitchen, where she stopped responding to Alex. When he went over to check on her, she was unable to move the left side of her body, and she showed signs of a stoke.

After an immediate 911 call and hours of assessment and emergency surgery attempts, the doctors reported that Amy had suffered a major blockage in her carotid artery that led to a severe stroke, one extremely rare for someone Amy's age and health condition. The stroke has impacted roughly 30% of her brain.

The road to recovery is a long one, but anyone who knows Amy knows she is up for the fight. Her strength and resilience are hallmarks of her character.

Amy moved this week from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility to begin her rehabilitation in earnest. The monetary costs of long term care are high, as are the emotional costs of managing without her for now.

If you are able, we're asking for donations to support the Thies family's medical expenses as they work towards a new normal in the coming months.

Your thoughts, prayers, meals and donations are appreciated in ways that are impossible to express.

Thank you.
